The Angels beat the Rays on Thursday night (LAA 6, TB 2), and they did so thanks in part toAlbert Pujols, who clubbed a two-run home run in the top of the ninth. That gave the Halos some insurance runs.
In addition to tacking on two extra runs, the home run was also the 537th of Pujols’ career, breaking a tie with Mickey Mantle. Pujols is now in sole possession of 16th place all-time. Here’s the milestone blast:
Next up for Pujols: Mike Schmidt with 548 home runs. Pujols could also catch Manny Ramirez (555) for 14th place all-time this season, though it will be tough.
